We now offer bariatric and foregut surgery in additional to hernia repair services
Dr. Philip George is a general surgeon who is fellowship-trained in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He attended undergraduate and graduate medical training at the George Washington University through an accelerated BS/MD program. After discovering his passion for surgery, he trained in a five-year general surgery residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He graduated chief resident and was awarded the prestigious Arthur Aufses Jr. Award by Department of Surgery for his dedication to surgical research, resident teaching, and excellence in patient care. During his time in New York, he was able to work with some of the pioneers of laparoscopic surgery and developed an interest in both hernia and foregut surgery. He then pursued subspecialty training with a fellowship in minimally invasive foregut and hernia surgery at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland.
His unique fellowship training has made him skillful at advanced hernia repair techniques, including non-mesh repair of hiatal hernias, robotic transversus abdominis release (TAR), and minimally invasive abdominal wall reconstruction of ventral incisional hernias. His research in the field has revealed improved outcomes with these operations, which he has presented at national meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. George is passionately dedicated to the care of his patients and believes that they are a partner throughout the surgical experience. He is happy to have joined Dr. Dupree at the Hernia Institute of New Jersey and looks forward to helping patients through their surgical needs here at the Jersey Shore.
